Skout collects verified family experiences to help families understand youth sports programs. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how to contact us about your information.
What We Collect
When you submit an experience, we collect the information you provide in the review flow, such as program, team context, athlete age or grade context, role, ratings, written feedback, and contact email. You may also choose to upload proof of participation, such as a receipt, roster, team email, or registration confirmation.
How We Use Information
We use submissions to verify participation, moderate content, prevent abuse, contact you about your submission when needed, and create aggregated program insights. Verified means we confirm a family was connected to the team before their experience affects publicly displayed information.
Communications
When you share an experience, we use your email to operate Skout, including verifying your participation, sending your access link, responding about your submission, and notifying you about teams or clubs you asked about. We may also send occasional updates about Skout, such as new sports or new regions. Every non-essential update includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out of those at any time.
What Is Public
Public program reports show aggregated patterns and selected review content after verification. Your email and proof documents are not shown publicly or shared with the organization you described. We ask contributors to avoid naming coaches, staff, players, or other individuals in written responses.
Proof of Participation
Proof uploads are stored separately from public review data in private storage. Uploaded proof is used only for verification and is deleted once participation is confirmed. If participation cannot be confirmed, Skout may temporarily retain proof to follow up with the submitting family and delete it once it is no longer needed.
Analytics and Service Logs
We use Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and standard operational logs from our hosting and database providers to understand site usage, improve the review flow, diagnose errors, measure performance, and protect the service. We do not use third-party advertising pixels or sell personal information.
Children and Athletes
Skout is intended for parents/guardians and athletes who can legally submit or have guardian support. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult when submitting an experience.
Deletion Requests
You can ask us to delete your review, email, and any retained proof information by contacting us. We may need enough information to identify the submission before completing a request.
